A Message from the Head of School

Dear BSA caregivers,

We hope this note finds you well and enjoying the spring weather.

I am writing today with some updates on our return to school schedule beginning on 4/19/2021.

By now you have all received a call or Google Forms survey link from the BSA OPS team via the weekly newsletter asking your preferences regarding your return to school. If you have not made contact with the school to register your preference, please email Mr. Peralta at jperalta@broomestreetacademy.org .

Based on what you indicated, on Wednesday March 31, your child will be receiving their invitation to their broomestreetacademy.com address to return in-person. As a reminder, your child is still registered for remote classes and if you have not gotten back to the school or did not indicate a preference to come in, your child schedule remains exactly the same.

I would like to explain to you the structure of our hybrid program. Due to the high demand and required safety protocols, students are being scheduled for one day a week either for a morning (8AM- 12PM) or afternoon (12PM- 4PM) program. Students will be in one classroom for four periods with the same group of kids each week. There will be very limited and monitored hallway passing and lunch will be distributed as a “TO GO” meal at the end of each program session. Students must correctly wear a mask the entire time they are on campus. Details on student behavior expectations and health screening requirements will be provided to the school community prior to the commencement of in-person learning on 4/19.

Your student should bring their fully charged Chromebook and charger to school with them.

Your student should come to school wearing a face covering over both their nose and mouth.

All seats have been distributed based on response to calls and the survey. Students cannot show up unannounced to the school building because a seat will not be available for them unless they have been invited and added to a classroom roster.

In closing, we are looking forward to continuing to provide the online instruction we have been providing and to be adding the opportunity for some students to come to the building for safe in-person instruction.  If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me or Mr. Peralta.

Announcement #1:                                Semester 2 Reminders

Tutoring Reminder and Update
Tutoring is available to all students each Friday from 1-4 PM, however, there will be no tutoring this Friday, our Spring Break starts on Friday.

Quarter 3 Ends on Friday
Please remind your student that Quarter 3 ends this Friday. This is a good time to reach out to your student’s teachers and ensure that they have submitted all the required assignments.

Announcement #2:                                Spring Recess, April 2-9

Reminder: There will be no classes for BSA students on Friday, April 2nd through Friday, April 9th for Spring Recess. Online classes will resume on Monday, April 12th, 2021.
