The following is the BSA Weekly Caregiver Newsletter for week of 4/19-4/23:

A Message from the Head of School

Dear Broome Street Academy Community,

I hope this note finds you well. I am writing to share with you the opportunity for summer youth employment at Broome Street Academy. The application is due on April 23rd, so I encourage you to have your child fill it out as soon as possible.

Additionally, I am happy to report that BSA has started hybrid instruction we are currently at approximately 50% of our student body electing to return to school for hybrid instruction.

It is not too late for you to send your child for hybrid classes. If you are interested in registering, please contact Mr. Peralta at Jperalta@broomeStreetacademy.org.

If your child is already registered and you have any questions, please reach out to BSA’s guidance counselor Ms. Gil at sgil@broomestreetacademy.org

Respectfully yours,
Ms.  Silberman

Announcement #1:                                Semester 2 Reminders

On Friday April 23rd BSA will be hosting our first Day of Silence. The National Day of Silence is a student-led demonstration in which students and staff in high schools and colleges across the country take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of bullying and discrimination against LGBTQ+ students in schools. At the end of the school day students and teachers join to collectively “break the silence.”

While a vow of silence is typical, BSA will be hosting the event a bit differently this year. On Friday during Advocacy, advocates and their champs will have the opportunity to have small group discussions surrounding identity and empowerment in schools. Afterwards, students and staff will have the opportunity to meet during Zoom and share their stories for why they are breaking the silence.
