The following is the BSA Weekly Caregiver Newsletter for the week of 5/3-5/7:

A Message from the Head of School

Dear Caregiver community,

We hope this note finds you well. In advance of Mother’s Day, let me take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Happy and Healthy Mother’s Day.

We wanted to write you to share a few updates for you to please mark your calendars:

  1. All students should be signing into Zoom and Google classrooms daily; the last day of school this year is June 15th.
  2. Edgenuity (Credit Recovery work) work can be completed all the way till June 23rd.
  3. BSA will have summer school in person and Edgenuity options. Summer school will begin on July 6th, 2021.
  4. If your child has summer school needs, they will be registered automatically, and you will be notified by June 15th.
  5. Graduation in Doubt letters will go out before May 16th.
  6. Promotion in Doubt letters will go out before June 1st.
  7. The first day of school in the Fall will be Thursday September 9th.

Quarter 4 Academic Support

If your student needs academic support, their teachers have compiled a list of assignments that they can prioritize and complete to improve their grades. Please review the assignments below with your child.

 

9th Grade

Algebra 1 (Farrell/Rosado) Pass All Q4 quizzes on Castle Learning 5/30/2021 Email me for a one-on-one or come to school on Tuesdays between 10am-12pm for help.
English 9 (Burroughs/Torres/Santiago) Lessons 4.1, 4/19, 4/22 5/6/2011 Complete assignments as they are given. Letting them pile up can be overwhelming.
Living Environment (Leelam/Chen) 1. 4/26: Symbiotic Table and Video
2. 4/28: Carrying Capacity Virtual lab and Questions
5/7/2021 Attend Friday tutoring sessions from 2-4pm in Woisin’s room

 

10th Grade

11th Grade

English 11 (Barrett/Bettencourt) Quarter 4 – Week 2 – Assignment – Writing Claims and Finding Evidence Quarter 4 – Week 1 – Assignment – Pro/Con Chart Binge Watching Television Priority meeting! Please attend Zoom at 10:45 on Tuesday May 4th to complete the next priority assignment in class as a group! This will help them accomplish next week’s goal. 5/9/2021 Focus on the HIGHEST point value assignment for the week.
Algebra II (Chen/Chuang) To make up Quarter 3, student will receive a package. The online students will receive a PDF file which requires student to finish by May 31. The blended students could receive a hard copy of it which has the same deadline. 5/31/2021 For semester 1, students are making up on Edgenuity. For Q3, they will receive a package. For Q4, they still have a great chance to pass if they participate zoom or in-person.
Advanced Math (Chen) All quizzes and attendance questions posted on Google Classroom. 5/30/2021
The African American Experience (Boyd) The 13th Part 1 assignment dated April 19 5/10/2021 Attend zoom class every Tuesday at 1; Speak to Mr. Boyd about peardeck questions.

 

12th Grade

AP Biology (Newman) 1. Human Body data Table 2. Digestion video and Questions 5/7/2021 Attend Friday tutoring sessions from 2-4pm in Woisin’s room
AP Language and Composition (Barrett) Quarter 4 – Week 2 – V FOR VENDETTA Rhetorical Practice Prioritize attending ZOOM meeting on 5/4 at 10 am to complete the next priority assignment as a group. Assignment is listed at Synthesis Essay: Hamilton and is already posted in the classroom. 5/9/2021 Attending weekly ZOOM meetings is the best way to stay caught up in AP classes.
