Position: Part-Time/Seasonal Basketball Coach

The Basketball Coach will develop and administer a comprehensive set of activities that promote, enhance and demonstrate the connection between academic, social, and personal mastery through basketball. The Coach will manage all aspects of their team. The Basketball Coach will help students evaluate their abilities, interests, and talents to promote academic success, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for the mission of Broome Street Academy and a belief that all students, given the right opportunities, will have the chance to succeed.


Support the development of each athlete’s individual and the team’s collective skill with a focus on teamwork, safety, sportsmanship and respect.
Work as a member of the Athletics department to develop and monitor a schedule, take attendance for practice and games, and manage expectations for respective sport
Identify, establish and maintain linkages with community agencies and businesses for sponsorship and endorsements (if possible)
Attend all assigned games or ensure that all student athletes are supervised at all times by approved school staff member
Be responsible for all players on-time arrival and departure from athletic events
Collect and distribute uniforms from players, as needed
Attend meetings, conferences, and in-service trainings to keep abreast of best practices and professional trends
Work within non-traditional school schedules and organizational structures that meet the needs of our students
Handle any appropriate responsibilities and functions as assigned by supervisor 


2+ years coaching experience required
Experience in and passion for urban, public education required (NYC preferred)
Strong knowledge of the High School basketball landscape in NYC preferred
Must be available after 2pm for spring conditioning and fall/winter season. Summer hours (flexible) available

Salary: Hourly, based upon experience.
