Responsibilities:

  • Teach 5 classes and/or equivalent responsibilities.
  • Record proper attendance for every class assigned
  • Serve as an advisor to a small group of students
  • Ensure students achieve goals set forth in the SUNY Accountability Plan
  • Attend all scheduled prep time with co-teachers/team members and all scheduled meetings
  • Update grade book weekly
  • Prepare students for all required assessments (Regents, NWEA, PSAT, SAT) and/or support proctoring
  • Participate in all required School professional development
  • Actively pursue certification and/or professional development
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers
  • Maintain a welcoming and safe classroom
  • Engage in effective and appropriate classroom/group management
  • Maintain clean and clutter free room spaces for all students’ and teachers’ use
  • Additional responsibilities consistent with the position may also be required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area as shown by significant undergraduate or graduate coursework in the content area or teaching certification
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practice
  • Comfort in being the only performing arts teacher on staff
  • Effective work ethic as a team member

Hours: 40 per week – 8 am to 4:30 pm
