Broome Street Academy Charter High School is seeking a Records Management Intern to join our team. The Records Management Intern will be responsible for maintaining, scanning, and digitizing records for our school, ensuring that our records are organized, accessible, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in gaining experience in records management within an educational setting.
The Records Management Intern will report to the Director of Operations and Data Manager or other designated staff member. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in records management in a dynamic educational environment and may also provide opportunities for professional growth and development.
This is a summer part time temporary position with the potential for continued work in the fall, pending funding availability.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize physical records, including student records, staff records, and other administrative documents.
- Scan and digitize records using electronic document management systems or other tools.
- Ensure records are properly labeled, indexed, and filed for easy retrieval.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of records, identifying and correcting any discrepancies.
- Follow established policies and procedures for records management, including retention schedules and data privacy requirements.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure records are updated in a timely manner and maintained according to established protocols.
- Assist with records audits, including preparing records for review and responding to requests for records.
- Provide general administrative support as needed, including data entry and other clerical tasks.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or associate’s degree program, preferably in library science, records management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Familiarity with records management best practices and principles.
- Proficient in using office software and electronic document management systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule: Part time, flexible work schedule, 10 – 15 hours a week
