Broome Street Academy’s model merges academic, social, and emotional services to prepare students to graduate prepared for a successful future. Our on-site SUNY-authorized charter high school sets aside 50% of the seats in its incoming 9th-grade class for students who are transitionally housed or in foster care and offers a wide range of integrated support in collaboration with The Door’s programs.
A key to our success involves supporting each student in building strong academic skills while receiving a mixture of academic and social support, including:
Collaborative team teaching
Flexible grouping in the classroom
Daily academic enrichment opportunities
Literacy strategies in curriculum
Academic remediation services
